Julian was handed the ball tonight as the starting pitcher against Union and he didn't disappoint! After being rained out last night, Julian had ample time to get nervous about his starting gig but maintained poise and control through his three innings of pitching. He had 6 strikeouts, didn't allow any runs, and only gave up 1 hit and 2 walks. At the plate he was 1 for 2, with a groundout and a hit to center in which he ended up at second base and got things going at the plate for the team. Hope won the game 5-1 and remain the team to beat in the league with a record of 8-0!

Big Hit for Julian!!!
Hope took their 6 game winning streak to Appleton tonight and had to go into extra innings to pull off the win. Appleton not only put their best pitcher on the mound, but he was also the fastest pitcher Hope has faced this season. Hope managed to get one run off of him, but they were shut down until late in the game when he threw his maximum pitches allowed and had to come out. Hope also had one of their hard throwers on the mound and Appleton too only had 1 run after 6 innings.
In the top of the seventh inning, Hope got base runners on second and third when Julian stepped to the plate-who struck out twice earlier in the game and wasn't really swinging the bat with confidence like he has been. The first pitch he took for a strike and then he fouled off the next one. Down to his last strike, Julian hit a line drive into center field and ended up on second base after they unsuccessfully tried to throw the runner from second base out at home. Julian was so excited to bring in the go ahead run he thought the game was over and started to run off the field until his coach told him to get back to the base! (Appleton would get last-at-bat since they were the home team.) After Julian's hit, Hope would go onto to score a couple more runs and ended up winning the game 5-1!

The Streak Continues!
Hope continued the winning streak as they beat Washington 11-0 Monday night at home! They are now 6-0. The game was called off early since Hope was winning by more than 10 runs after the end of the fourth inning. Julian was 0-1 with a strikeout. He also walked once and eventually rounded the bases to score a run.

Vote for Pedro!
Recognize anyone on the ballot?!?! I have contemplated running for selectman over the last couple years and this year I have finally decided to do it. I'm not much of a "politician", but I have learned it's important in a small town like Hope to try to be involved and be an active participant. The election is on June 10, so keep your fingers crossed and if you live in Hope-vote for me!!

Battle of the Undefeated Teams!
Hope and Lincolnville came face to face tonight with their undefeated records and Hope manage to come out on top in the most exciting game so far of the young season.
Hope got 3 runs between the first and second inning and then watched Lincolnville take a 4-3 lead into the top of the fourth. In the bottom of the inning Hope was able to tie the score 4-4. Both teams then went scoreless in the fifth inning.
In the final inning of the game Lincolnville was shut down by some great pitching. Hope had last-at-bats and the first batter ripped one to the outfield and got a double. The next batter got a sacrifice and moved the base runner to third base. Lincolnville then brought the infield in to try to prevent the game winning run. However, the next batter manged to squeak a ground ball under the charging first baseman's glove and the game winning run scored!
Julian had his first hit less game as he popped out in the infield. He did have a put out in the field as he handled a tough groundball at second base and threw the runner out.

Hope Improves to 3-0!
Hope matched up against Thomaston-I Friday night in a game that lasted 2.5 hours! Julian was 1-1 as the lead off hitter of the game. He had a single, a walk, was hit by a pitch, and scored 2 runs.
After being hit by a pitch Julian gave an evil stare to the pitcher as he went to first base-I think he has been watching the pro's in the major league way too much!

Little League-Season Opener!
In the field, he started the game at second base but didn't see much action as Thomaston II was limited to only a couple hits. Hope got off to a good start on the season as they went on to win the game 12-0.
